Unlocking regional value chains - from geology to industrial ecosystems
The geological evolution that has produced mineral occurrences and deposits is one key factor to open local and regional value chains. However, the geology itself is not enough. Regional collaboration between public and private sector is required to unlock the full potential of economic development. Education and science aligned with national and regional strategies with carefully directed funding have contributed to the generation of one of the fastest growing industrial ecosystems in Kokkola region, western Finland. What can we learn from Kokkola and Finland to spark growth in your region to develop value chains that have global influence?
