Beer Production and Popularity:

U Fleků serves an impressive 2000 glasses of beer per day. It's not only the most famous Czech restaurant but also a pilgrimage site for beer lovers, both Czech and foreign. U Fleků is one of the few breweries in Central Europe that has been brewing beer continuously for over 500 years.
Despite being nationalized during the communist era, the original owners, the Brtník family, regained control of the brewery and restaurant in 1991 after the fall of the regime1.

Historic Atmosphere:

The Knights' Hall (Rytířský sál) stands on the grounds of the old chapel, which was converted into a malt house. The hall features beautifully decorated walls with a life-size portrait of the first brewer. Carved chairs adorned with emblems of Czech towns with breweries invite guests to sit comfortably. The door even immortalizes the names of brewers from 1499 to 18831. U Fleků's enduring legacy and commitment to quality make it a remarkable destination for beer enthusiasts and history lovers alike!

Speciality beer - Tmavý

A few years back, as lagers were becoming more popular, breweries started experimenting with dark Bohemian lagers, known in Czechia as černé pivo (black) or tmavé pivo (dark). Czech tmavý is a bit of a cheat code — looks dark, but tastes sweetish and chocolatey, with the smooth drinkability lagers offer. U Fleků is one of the most interesting breweries in the world, possibly the oldest, and absolutely the most important example of a tmavý brewed today.
